From October 18 to 28, 2022, the International Russian-Serbian Festival “Serbian Solace for the Russian Heart” will take place at Saint Tikhon’s Orthodox University of the Humanities (STOUH).
The peoples of Russia and Serbia closely united by a common faith and a common cultural tradition. Throughout history, Russia has always appreciated and preserved this. But also Serbia has never ceased to inspire the Russian people and to be “a solace for their heart”. The festival, by immersing us in the theme of Russian–Serbian unity, is intended to remind us once again of the diverse reciprocal ties that bind Russia and Serbia together.
Throughout the years of its existence, STOUH has always tried, to the best of its ability, to make a contribution to the unity of the Orthodox peoples. While celebrating its 30th anniversary, the University is organizing this festival as a new offering in that noble service.
The festival will feature exhibitions, a conference, concerts, book presentations, meetings with hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church and with those who represent the cultural tradition of Serbia in our day.
There will be meetings with Metropolitan Joanikije Mićović of Montenegro and the Littoral and Bishop Joann Ćulibrk of Pakrac and Slavonia, as well as lectures by Belgrade University professor and translator Ksenija Končarević and professor Todor Mitrović of the Academy of Fine Arts and Restoration of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
During the festival, a film lecture will be organized, which will include the screening of the films Kosovo: The Last Judgment (directed by Ksenia Heinbücher), Dara from Jasenovac (directed by Predrag Antonijević) and St. Nicholas the Serbian (directed by Priest Nenad Ilić).
Throughout the duration of the festival, there will be exhibitions on “Serbian Holy Places: Destroyed and Reconstructed” and “Jasenovac: Loyalty and Resurrection” in the foyer of STOUH’s main building.
